What Is A Sanctuary City, And How Does It Differ From Other Types Of Jurisdictions in Nebraska?
A sanctuary city is a jurisdiction that limits its cooperation with the federal government’s effort to enforce immigration law. Sanctuary cities generally do not use municipal funds or resources to enforce federal immigration laws, and they often provide protections to undocumented immigrants that are not available in other jurisdictions. In Nebraska, specific cities have passed ordinances declaring themselves ‘sanctuary cities’, meaning they limit their cooperation with the federal government’s efforts to enforce immigration law. These cities are Omaha, Lincoln, and South Sioux City.
3. Property values: Studies have shown that neighborhoods with diverse populations tend to have higher property values, which can benefit homeowners and contribute to the local economy through increased property tax revenue.
5. Social services costs: Critics argue that Sanctuary City policies may strain social services and increase costs for public services such as healthcare and education. However, proponents argue that the overall economic benefits outweigh these potential costs.
Unless it your rent and property taxes spiraling out of control to pay the way for the undocumented that have never paid into the system and are not suppose to be here in the first place.

1. Increased State and Local Support: In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of support services in Sanctuary Cities, leading to increased funding from both state and local governments. This includes funding for language translation services, legal aid, healthcare access, and mental health support for undocumented immigrants.
In Nebraska Sanctuary Cities, several initiatives are in place to address the healthcare needs of undocumented immigrants.
1. Undocumented immigrants can access free or low-cost health services through community health centers and clinics that do not require proof of citizenship or legal status.
2. Some Sanctuary Cities have established partnerships with local healthcare providers to offer discounted services to undocumented individuals.
3. Non-profit organizations and advocacy groups may provide assistance in connecting undocumented immigrants with healthcare resources and navigating the healthcare system.
4. In some cases, local governments have allocated funding to support healthcare programs specifically tailored to the needs of undocumented immigrants.
